Touches of Fall
Posted on 13 October 2018
Fall is officially here and I’m really happy to be bringing you my fall home tour in a blog hop with 5 other wonderful bloggers that I’ve been blessed to connect with and get to know! At the end of my tour, all of the other bloggers and their fall home tours will be linked up. Shall we get started? Come on in!
This year, I am really keeping my fall decor simple and just swapped out a few accents on the entryway console, trading my green plant in for a cute blue pumpkin! You’ll see my blue and white pumpkins creating a theme throughout my home. I hope you had the chance to see my foyer refresh a few weeks ago, but if not, you can catch all the details via the link below.
My fluffies (really tall grasses that open up in the fall) made their debut in my very first home tour for fall last year and they’ve stored wonderfully! Just in case you didn’t know, fluffies actually dry out and get even fluffier after you’ve trimmed them. Mine have reached peak fluffiness, so I will probably hang onto them for as long as they last. ;)
Lately, I’ve been loving tassels! They’re pretty fun, aren’t they? I’ve been wanting to hang some large tassels from my lamps, and finally stumbled upon these at my local andThat! store for $1.99 each! They were so much cheaper than anything I had seen online! Yes, they are actually curtain drawbacks, but I still think they’re cute on my new lamps!
Our foyer isn’t the only space that has undergone some recent changes!
These beautiful and soft gray slipcovers are a new addition to our dining room. Previously, I had all white slipcovers and I was ready for a change.
I also switched out my blue and white striped rug for this silky gray and white fringe rug. It makes the room just a bit more sophisticated than the flatweave striped rug I keep in here during the summer months.
Want to know where the striped rug went?
I was playing around with our front guest room decor the other day and on a whim just decided to swap the rugs out. What do you think of the change? This room also has blue and white pumpkins (shocker!) but is still the “beachiest” feeling room in our house. I don’t mind leaving a bit more “summertime” in this room because I like our guests to feel that they’ve truly arrived at the beach. :)
This bedding is also new and from Linens & Hutch. I chose the 3-Piece Damask Quilted Coverlet Set in light blue in King size. If you use code housefullofsummer at check-out, you’ll get 30% off your purchase! I am a huge fan of quilts, especially ever since moving to the South. First of all, they look so cozy and classic draped over the foot of the bed and provide another layer of interest and texture, but also they’re perfect for when the temps start to cool down. I love how soft and pliable this material is. You could really snuggle up in it. :)
I shopped my home to refresh this room and pulled in the folding bamboo sling stools to sit at the foot of the bed. They’ve been seen before in my foyer under the console, and recently one was living in my bathroom at the vanity and the other was in the second guest room.
As I mentioned earlier, my fall decor is simple this year, but it’s also subtle. Just a few changes of accent colors, some branch trimmings and a cute pumpkin here or there is just enough for me.
Ahh these soft colors are a nice change from the vibrant pops of blue and turquoise that I usually use in the summer months, which is why I thought my “relax” throw pillow would be perfect here.
My little tree trimmings made me laugh. I didn’t bother to cut more branches and fill out this vase, because I think it has a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree vibe going on. Ha!
Some shiny accents, like this gorgeous crane from Lo Home, a gold-edged tray from andThat! and the owl from HomeGoods last year, are dressing up my cane table.
I’ve mentioned before that the lighting really starts to look noticeably different this time of year, casting shadows where there weren’t any before. It makes photographing a bit challenging, but I’m learning to like this softer lighting for fall. It looks perfect for napping, doesn’t it? ;)
I tried to capture some different angles for you in this tour, because if you’re anything like me, you are always trying to figure out the floor plan of the house you’re viewing!
Dogs are so funny, aren’t they? Summer girl looks pretty comfy just laying in the center of the wood floor. I am standing in front of the console table in our foyer while snapping this picture.
You can see through to our breakfast nook and family room at the back of our house. The family room isn’t photographed in this tour because, quite frankly, it received zero fall updates this year! I am not ashamed to say I just wasn’t feeling up to throwing pumpkins all over the place. :D And I hope I don’t get shunned for saying this, but I’m secretly (and I guess now publicly) so excited to decorate for Christmas! Eeeek! Okay, shhh. Don’t tell anyone else I said that. That’s just between us! ;)
